What to do with an SSIA?

I took an SSIA out back in April of 2002. I decided back then in my wisdom to contribute the maximum to the scheme of €254 per month. My SSIA is due to mature next May. So what do you do with a bundle of cash that you never had in your pocket to begin with? What do you do with the monthly contribution of €254 that you haven't missed for five years? Well, I heard Eddie Hobbbs say you should pay the lump of your mortgage. So I rang my bank yesterday and asked the question. What hapens if I pay €20,000 off my mortgage and increase my monthly mortgage payment by €254? Apparently I'll knock a whopping 12 years off of my mortgage.

Needless to say I said sign me up!!!

Paris

Seeing as how the wife is pregnant I decided we'd better book us some quality time away before the baby arrives and before she can no longer travel. Going away on a spur of the moment will require military precision from November on. That and the fact that we only have 14 more weekends before our lives are turned upside down prompted me to book a weekend in Paris for the both of us.

Okay so I'm lying, I wanted to see the end of the Tour De France on the Champs Elysée. Either way we're both happy we're getting out of Cork for a weekend.
